9-1-1 Program
Welcome to the Colorado 9-1-1 Program
The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has three primary duties regarding 9-1-1 service in the State of Colorado:
Oversight of "Basic Emergency Service" (§ 40-15-201, C.R.S.)
Approval of Emergency Telephone Charges (§ 29-11-102, C.R.S.) and administration of the State 9-1-1 Surcharge (§ 29-11-102.3, C.R.S.)
Annual reporting to the General Assembly on the state of 9-1-1 service in Colorado (§ 40-2-131, C.R.S.)
Current, Future, and Ongoing Initiatives
Implementing amended rules regarding basic emergency service outage definitions (Proceeding No. 23R-0577T)
Next Generation 9-1-1 Implementation. This work is primarily being accomplished through the work of the Emergency Services IP Network (ESInet) Users Group.

Multi-Line Telephone Systems and 9-1-1
Colorado statute defers to federal statute and regulation regarding the 9-1-1 capabilities of multi-line telephone systems.
